THE APPEARANCE
Lorelei is quite the looker. Her light blonde hair is almost always in a riotous fount of waves down her back. Standing at about five foot, nine inches, she is physically fit. Her body is well proportioned and lightly muscled. Lorelei's skin is, naturally, a good bit paler than it was in life. When not performing, she wears feminine attire that is most of the time of a contemporary style. Although more reserved in her day-to-day dress, she bares a good bit of skin in her performances. The flawless equestrian, Lorelei moved with beauty and grace before being turned, and now even the simplest motions are lovely since her transformation.
THE PERSONALITY
Lorelei is a hard worker and kind woman. She's rather reserved and quieter than most female vampires her age. She doesn't see herself as better than humans, and often finds them highly intriguing. She blends herself in by keeping a job, in which she performs at a nightly dinner show starring equestrian acts. Lorelei does not believe that vampires are better than humans, and she is one of the ones who think that all vampires originally stemmed from humans. Never one to give up, she labors to keep herself moving forward instead of dwelling in her past. She is not shy or afraid of men, but she does have values that many women - especially vampires - have shed over the years. Refined and dignified, she's more like a queen than the daughter of a long dead horse-breeder.
THE HISTORY
BIRTH PLACE: Vienna, Austria
CHANGED: 1572
From a young age, Lorelei loved horses. She was born into a family of horse-breeders who worked on perfecting the art of riding. Her father, Georg Kavalec, was one of the men who worked to form the Spanish Riding School of Vienna. Originally Georg and her brother Gustav worked in Josefsplatz, near Vienna, at the run down corral. However, after a year or so of watching the men work with the fine white horses, she couldn't stand it anymore. On her eighth birthday Lorelei begged her father, against her mother's wishes, to let her ride as well. Women didn't ride the priceless stallions though, and so Georg gifted her with a black pony. It was on that pony that she first learned balance and finesse.
The budding equestrian, Lorelei was ready for a real horse by the time she was twelve. Having outgrown her little black pony, her father traded it away for a fine mare. It was not fitting for a woman to ride a stallion, but Lorelei vowed to herself to one day ride the fine white Lippizans of the School. Each day she stole away to the School and watched the riders teaching their horses the maneuvers of haute ecole. At the age of fifteen, she disguised herself as a boy and gained admittance into the program. From then on horses were in her blood. There was no better place for her than on the back of a dancing stallion. Largo, the horse she was assigned, was massive and intimidating. However, he was simply not as mean as he appeared. Together, he taught Lorelei how to move in unity with balance and flexibility.
In 1572, when Lorelei was but twenty-two years of age, she died. That same year, the Spanish Riding School was officially named. One of the men who helped her father fund the School, was a vampire. He took a liking to Lorelei and although she rebuffed his attempts at wooing her, he still turned her. Georg stumbled in upon the act and beheaded the bastard, but not before it was too late. He resolved to keep Lorelei a secret and so he hid her away for years. It was far too many years before Lorelei got to ride again, and Largo had long since passed on. One hundred and fifty-seven years passed before Lorelei rejoined the world of riding. She stayed close to the Kavalec family for generations, watching as they strove to continue her father's dream.
In 1729, Emperor Charles VI commissioned a great riding hall for the School in Vienna. Ecstatic that Georg's greatest dream was finally coming to fruition, Lorelei slipped back into society. The massive, artistically designed white arena was completed in 1735 and Lorelei was beyond ready. Still disguising herself as a man, she would steal into the hall at night and ride the famous steeds. The years passed on and a local legend of ghost rider cropped up. Each time people began to investigate, Lorelei would fall back into the shadows of history, reappearing a handful of years later after being forgotten.
It wasn't until 2008 that she finally joined the Riding School formally, as a woman - 436 years after the School had been completed. Posing as a twenty-one year old woman, Lorelei Kavalec enjoyed several years of riding. She lived within the School for years and no one was the wiser. Unlike many vampires, Lorelei never killed her victims and so occasionally a slightly anemic rider would be found wondering around the campus. In 2010 Lorelei finally let go completely of the Riding School and moved to the United States. There she set down roots in Texas, a land with more than enough space for someone such as herself. She opened an equestrian based show, which she called Infinitas, a nod to her own endless life.
