Why did vampires insist on driving foreign models? This was America, not Switzerland! It was ridiculous enough that they demanded she work at night, when they could oversee if they so desired, but then to also demand that she only get parts from the same country the car originated in? Oh, how she loathed Le Blanc for making her leap through such hoops. Was she angry? Hell yeah. Was there anything she could do about it? Not really. Sighing, Chris ran a hand through her long, white-blond hair. It was the only thing feminine about her. She knew that Le Blanc was only being such a jerk because he wanted to feel superior to her. He was a vampire and, after all, according to him, humans were merely cattle. Walking snack packs for those with a more savage hunger. Not that any of the vamps she did work for would ever kill her. They might try to take a bite out of her, but then they'd find their car mysteriously had no break pedals and a whole lot of excess gasoline in the back seat. Rolling her eyes at the phone across the garage from her, Chris wanted to throw another tantrum. How dare some imbecile who's been around for three hundred years - who at yet to learn anything about vehicle repair - tell her, Chris White, how to do her job. "Goddammit, I hate that fang faced freak so ever living much. I can't stand him!" Drawn by all the commotion, her mother stuck her head out into the family's garage. "Something the matter, Chrissy-pie?" She could her herself choke in indignation, "Mother, names! What have I told you people from day one? It's Chris. And yes, something's the matter, but no, I don't really feel like talking it out, mom." Pressing her fingers to her forehead, she collapsed against the lime green sports car. The Rinspeed Veleno, basically a heavily modified Dodge Viper, was created in Switzerland. Chris had no desire to have Le Blanc hanging around day after day while she waited for the parts to arrive. "Why does everyone have to be so complicated? I could fix the damn thing just as well with parts we have here in the shop." Hoping that there wouldn't be too many more customers for the night, she went over to her desk and sat at the laptop. Opening it up, she began her search for the needed parts - in Switzerland... |
