the vampires There are many theories as to how vampires came to be. It is believed by some vampires that they were created to rule the earth and that the humans were created for them to prey upon. More believable to most is the idea that vampire was born of human, seeing as how all vampires were, at one time, mortal. The most important law among vampires? Keep their existence a secret.
CREATION & CHANGING All vampires have a creator to which they are or were once a progeny to. A creator and his or her progeny share a bond deeper than any other. A creator can always find his children, no matter where they may be. Even with distance, the bond is strong, allowing each to feel when the other is in peril or in need.
Changing from human to vampire is a painful process. A mere bite will not change someone. In order to become a vampire, a human must be taken to the brink of death before being forced to drink the blood of a vampire. The process of changing after the exchange of blood can take days as the body slowly and agonizingly dies and changes.
ABILITIES The older the vampire, the stronger they are. From the point of being changed, vampires will not age. Along with the ability to move faster than the naked eye can see, these creatures are stronger and much more graceful than humans. Is a vampire is wounded, they will begin to heal after only a few short moments.
WEAKNESSES There are few sure ways to killing a vampire, the most obvious of which being stabbing them through the heart. Other methods include vampires either meeting the sun or being set on fire and being completely burned to ashes. Silver is a horrible enemy of these night crawlers, burning and cutting into them at the slightest touch. Silver is not only painful to a vampire, but it also hinders and weakens all of their other abilities.
Vampires are only allowed to enter a household if they are invited inside. The best way to get a vampire out of your house? Take back your invite.
BLOOD OATHS When a vampire swears a blood oath, they are bound by their blood to follow through with this promise. Should a vampire start to stray from their oath, the pain is much like being burned. When a blood oath is broken, a vampire will meet the true death.
